deceased Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo.

Several years ago, the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo, California USA staged a tree
planting in a large area to commemorate the memory of our deceased members. A
visiting Rotarian from India was impressed by the idea and carried it home to his club
in Poona, India. This not only resulted in a memorial grove to their departed Rotarians
but an extensive tree planting project in the area.....The Rotary objective "Preserve
Planet Earth" encouraged many clubs and districts to launch environmental projects.
This Rotary year, our district5320 responded by asking each club to originate a special
Arbor Day project. Mission Viejo Rotary decided to join the City of Mission Viejo in
their observance of Arbor day, Earth Day and National Trails Day to plant ten trees in a special area along the scenic Oso Creek Trail. The area features a
handsome bronze plaque dedicating the Rotary Grove and a bench to rest and contemplate the beauty of nature. ---PP Norm Miller, Director of the Memorial Project.
