OSO LAKE
ROTARY CENTENNIAL PROJECT
Report From Business meeting Fall 2003: Incoming President Steve Mugg
reviewed our
plans for our Camp Rotary Centennial Project at Lake Oso answering a number
of
questions and reporting the following:
1.This is a two year plan and with an anticipated allocation of up to
$15,000 in funds
which is scalable.
2.We will be working through the Boy Scouts of America who will be signing
either
a 25 year or 50 year lease with the Santa Margarita Water District who owns
the
land and the lake.
3.Boy Scouts of America will have the responsibility of attracting community
organizations to help develop the grounds as basic camp sites for tenting.
4.Our Rotary Club has been invited to develop the first site which will be
at the
entrance and will reflect the overall development of the project. There are
only
three sites available because of the terrain and so our site will have the
uniqueness
of being first and most visible as it is at the entrance.
5.All maintenance will be the responsibility of the BSA.
6.We will not be funding any infrastructure other than our campsite.
7.We will have complete control over the funds allocated. Funds will not be
paid to
the BSA
8.Our club will have no future financial obligations or legal contractual
agreement.
Steve Mugg is Chairman of the Centennial project and will be forming a
committee
by this coming Spring and we will be looking for volunteers to
1.Help develop the site which will include landscaping, fire pits building
and
development of the tenting area
2.There are no plans for plumbing for toilets and BSA plans to install Porta
Potty’s
which they will maintain.
3.This is a two year project and Steve does not anticipate any work being
done by
members until the Fall of 2004 with completion a must by February 2005.
4.Rotary International has approved the project as a Centennial Project and
requires
it to be:
Benefit the Community
Hands on by Members
Rotary Marker
Camp Rotary will be available to the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, YMCA, Church
Groups and other Community organizations including the Rotary Club of MV
President Ross asked the Board of Directors of our club to allocate $15,000
for
this project and the source to be from our surplus funds in our Charity
Accounts.
This was done. |
