CLUB BULLETIN Jan15, 2012

"Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve.
You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve ...You don't have to know the second
theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
-Martin Luther king,Jr.

FIVE  POWERFUL REASONS FOR BELONGING TO ROTARY

1. Friendship
In an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of the most basic human needs: the need for friendship and fellowship.
It is one of two reasons why Rotary began in 1905.
2.
Business Development
The second original reason for Rotary's beginning is business development. Everyone needs to network. Rotary consists of
a cross section of every business community.
Its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians help each other.
3.
Personal Growth and Development
Membership in Rotary continues one's growth and education in human relations and personal development.
4.
Leadership Development
Rotary is an organization of leaders and successful people. Serving in Rotary positions is like a college education. Leadership:
learning how to motivate, influence and lead leaders.
5.
Citizenship in the community
Membership in a Rotary club makes one a better community citizen. The average Rotary club consists of the most active
citizens of any community.
Yes, I am interested in learning more about Rotary and becoming a member.

Mission Viejo Rotary and The City of Mission

Viejo honor long-time resident and volunteer!

On the corner of Marguerite and Olympiad, you can now find a “Mission Viejo Bear” honoring

Mark “Ziggy” Wilczynski - a long-time resident and volunteer extraordinaire. The City monument was

funded by the City of Mission Viejo and the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo. Ziggy did so much for the

City and the honor is very fitting. Mayor, and Rotary club president, Dave Leckness, was instrumental

in providing this honor for one of Mission Viejo’s finest residents.

Rotarians at the ceremony included: Dave Leckenss, Steve Mugg, Norm Syler, Bob

McQueen, Ann Hagerty, Sarah Hagerty, Scott Walker, Bill Craycraft, Joe Lavoie, Verl Nash and

Jack Wallace and Dennis O’Connor.

\MVR served 1,500 hotdogs at theMV Walk Against Drugs
 and Community Fair

On Saturday, October 22, 2011 the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo prepared 1,500 FREE hotdogs for the walkers in the City
of Mission Viejo’s 23rd Annual Walk Against Drugs and Community Fair. Thousands of students and their families walked
from Mission Viejo High School to the Norman P. Murray Community Center in support of the city’s Walk Against Drugs.
The event highlights National Red Ribbon Week to celebrate living a healthy lifestyle staying away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
From its inception, Mission Viejo Rotarians have participated in the MV Walk Against Drugs. Actually, Rotarian Bill Craycraft,
former Mayor of MV, was instrumental in starting the MV Walk Against Drugs 23 years ago. This year, from 7 to 10:30 a.m.,
club members and friends prepared 1,500 FREE hotdogs. When participants in the Walk arrived at the MV Rotary booth behind the
Norman P. Murray Center, Rotarians began handing out hotdogs. In fifteen minutes the dogs were gone - and so were the
3,000 packets of ketchup, mustard and relish! Event coordinator for the MV Rotary Club, PP Rick Murray,
said,
“We had all the help we needed this year to get the job done
while having a great time!”

This August, the Mission Viejo Rotary Club delivered 30 new backpacks, and school supplies to fill them, to the South Orange County Social Services office.
The Mission Viejo Rotary project is coordinated by Mission Viejo Rotarians Bob McQueen, Bill Kersten, and Carol Kersten.
The backpacks and school supplies
were distributed to needy families in the community by the “adopted” social workers. The workers told Bob, Bill, and Carol, “Many children would be returning to

The Test   Click here for Story of the 4 WayTest

The 4 Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
  1. Is it the
TRUTH?
2. Is it
FAIR to all concerned?
 3. Will it build
GOODWILL and
         better
FRIENDSHIPS
?
4. Will it be
BENEFICIAL to all
          concerned?

To some their Rotary membership is almost the most precious thing in life.
Why this affection for Rotary? It is the love of man for his fellow man. When stripped of all formalities and creeds, fellowship flourishes. Rotary draws no lines of politics or religion, Mohamedans, Budhists, Christians and Jews, break bread together in happy fellowship.
